Herbs for health

Forget the adverts telling you to buy so and so for your health. There are many health benefits in ordinary herbs and spices (not to mention ordinary foods).

A few examples:
herbs for health

Turmeric: Reputedly Turmeric can help lower cholesterol and event prevent bad cholesterol from building up in the future.

Cayenne Pepper: can help stimulate your metabolism, circulation and digestion.

For your entertainment, here's some nonsense from today's blogosphere.

Saffron is rich in vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and potassium. It costs £3,000 a kilo at my local store.

4 tablespoons of Cumin supply your daily iron! Try eating this in one day! One free range egg and some green vegetables will do the same ... and more.

Seriously though, herbs are full of nutrition. Even living in a flat in the city you can grow some on your window sill, or under electric light, especially modern efficient LED lights.

The Herb Garden for Cooks by Jeff Cox is well recommended.

alternatively, Container Gardening (Vannessa Wilberton) for those without access to garden or allotment.
