Plastic pollution from laundry

Microplastics in laundry are getting into  the rivers, oceans, plant life and fish. The culprit being man-made textiles. So what can we do.

"I wash my synthetic clothes by hand. What would be the best place to dispose of the water? I could choose lawn, copse or improvise a soak-away." (Me, in a panic!).

Some sewage works attempt to remove the fibres but cannot be completely successful. However there are now bags to hold all the laundry that can help. e.g guppy friend

They say

"With each wash, countless plastic fibers from synthetic textiles are making their way from washing machines into rivers and oceans.

The Guppyfriend washing bag is a patented solution, that filters out the tiniest microfibers released from textiles during washing. The self-cleaning fabric bag is made of a specially designed micro-filter material. Simply collect the fibers and dispose them of properly."
This would have been even more convincing if they'd checked their grammar, ...
